Facilities Shut-In Along TX Gulf Coast as Hurricane Laura Descends

As Hurricane Laura bears down on the Texas gulf coast, operators are moving to shut-in operations in preparation.
Hurricane Laura is on course to descend on the Texas-Louisiana border at around 1:00 AM CST on Thursday August 27. Laura is currently a Category 3 storm, however meterologists predict it will make landfall as a Category 4 hurricane.
Now as the storm nears the Texas coast, several companies with facilities in and around the Houston, TX area are in the process of shutting down operations in preparation.
Chevron, Phillips 66 and Cheniere Energy have all suspended operations in the region.
Offshore Ops Shut In Earlier in the Week
Earlier this week, operators in the Gulf of Mexico shut-in wells across the region and evacuated platforms in preparation for the event.
According to data released by the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), 281 production platforms were been evacuated by August 24 (this represents ~44% of the total active platforms in the region).
As for production, nearly 82% (or 1.5 million BOPD) of the GOM's total oil production capacity has been shut-in. Additionally, just over 1,500 Mmcf/d of the gulf's gas output has also been taken offline.
